The Ticket Stub Project

When a date corresponds with a ticket stub, I'll post my memories about that show as kind of a "This Day In Concert History". I hope you share your memories too, if you were at one of the shows (or at a different show on the same tour)!

Now, some of these shows were not very memorable, and/or I just forgot some stuff.  I'm interested to see what I recall and what I don't.

Looking over the stack so far, I wish I'd started this earlier, since some of my favorite shows happened in past few months.  The good news is you'll have to wait less than a year to hear about those.

The New Year celebration seems like the appropriate time to get this ball rolling! It starts December 31st. Hope you enjoy it!

HA! I recently took all my stubs from my vintage cookie monster jar and put them under glass and hung it up. Like a proud mama I re-visit each one, remembering or trying really hard to piece together what had happened that day/night. I found out I won a ticket to a concert while sitting in the dentist chair. Pearl Jam had a drawing and my only entry was picked. My favorite stub is water logged and torn in half. You guessed it Lollapallooza '93 Milan Dragway Fri July 9th. The price for several bands was, I think $38.50? I can't really read it which means it was a good time. Sadly my favorite concert holds no stub because I didn't have enough to buy the ticket after we drove a hour to see them. Janes Addiction 1998 in Mesa Az. I was fuming when I realized I wouldn't be able to see the concert, a guy came up to me asking if I had any "notes". I noticed the several back stage passes peeking out from under his jacket. We gathered our money and gave it to him with shaking hands, (mine) and he walked us in through the side gate. I ran into a very colorful and beautiful concert where I danced, surfed and and held on to Perry's hand while he sang Ocean. Ahhhh Absolutely amazing doesn't come close. ohhh I have sooo many more stories... I haven't been to a concert in quite a while which sucks for several reasons. A... My favorite bands don't tour. B... The venues are terrible and 3... Soo freaking expensive. I am glad I got to go see such wonderful shows. I am glad I saved the stubs and for the future concert go-ers... I hope you have as much fun as I did.

"Dewd, I was so wasted at that show." ~ my comment for every one of your concert memory posts.

Ryan -

Looking at some of the stubs from the early 90's, I was going to count on you for some of the stories. "Soup Dragons? I saw the Soup Dragons? Maybe Ryan was there... he can help me remember!"

What an AWESOME idea Vertical!! I LOVE it!! Unless you're going to be bringing up any Barenaked Ladies or Domestic Problems (awesome band out of Grand Rapids) shows, I probably won't have much to contribute. (I've seen these 2 bands over 30 times each though, and have so many great memories! :) I have saved all my ticket stubs as well, even from hockey games or the 2 times I saw Wicked and I love to look over them and reminisce! I can't wait for NYE!

    The Ticket Stub Project

I've collected many tickets stubs from all the shows I've seen through the years.

There are shows I've seen that had no ticket, and I have lost a few stubs here and there.  This is my attempt to chronicle what I remember about each stub that I have. I'll post about each on the day of the year that the show happened!

If you were at one of the shows, please share your memories in the comments!

    Here's the list so far!
