My first thought when I saw this trailer from Chris Nolan's cinematographer, Wally Pfister, was "whoa... A movie where Johnny Depp doesn't get weird".

It looks pretty good. I'm definitely interested, and will probably avoid reading too much more about it, so I can be nice and surprised when I check it out in the big screen.

June 27, 2013, I was a featured speaker at Nerd Nite Detroit. Since the topic this month was super-heroes, I was asked to speak about my favorite comic book character, Superman. 

Fun Fact #1: The Green Hornet (Britt Reid) is the son of the Lone Ranger's (John Reid) nephew. The Lone Ranger is Green Hornet's great-uncle. Heroism runs in the family.

In a very strange coincidence, I posted the above picture on The Vertical Files' Facebook page this afternoon. (I keep a bunch of silly Star Wars photos in an album here. I've been collecting them for years, and distribute them every few days) 

It was Spring, 1985 and the one single question on every American's mind was "When will there be another Indiana Jones and what will it be about (yes, we realize that's two questions, not one)?"

That one (two) question(s) was (were) answered with the "Starblazer Special Steven Speilberg's Collector's Edition Indy III: A Projection" magazine. The cover boasts That Indy will fight "The Serpent of Evil", and that it will be "greater than Raiders and Temple". 

Compelling.

I had the rare opportunity to see one of my favorite classic movies on the big screen. It was an extremely wide screen, in fact. Read my memories of that experience at the Redford Theatre here. It was a great time, and I'll be back to that theatre again.

This past weekend, I had the great pleasure of seeing one of my favorite classic movies at the beautiful Redford Theatre in Detroit.

I had heard of the the theater (theatre?) before, and knew it was supposed to be a restored treasure. I didn't realize just how wonderful it is inside.
