Did you read my Superman speech yet? It's OK, I'll wait.
"Shel Dorf" kinda sounds like made up words, but they aren't. Click here to find out more.

Superman is cool (or used to be). Here's a lengthy post about him.
Well, the Mayans were wrong... or perhaps it was everyone's ridiculous interpretation of their calendar. Either way, the world didn't end this year. I was thinking it would, which is why there were so few updates to this site in the late part of the year. I was spending most of my time and money building a survival shelter. I only got as far as building a small shelf, but it is a darn sturdy shelf. I appreciate everyone who checks out the site. I'll try to put more stuff up in the next year. Although I've made that promise before.
[On a side note, on December 28th there was a 200% spike in traffic to the site. Did I get mentioned on Leno or something? Weird.] As a special (free) gift to you, I decided to compile a list of the top ten best entries for the year. Unfortunately, I could only come up with six. In no particular order, here they are: Michigan Legacy Art Park - I visit a hidden treasure in the wintery north of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. Indiana Jones and the Cave of Death - The movie that never was. Redford Theatre - I discover a very cool movie spot. Cat Cat Cat Cat - The greatest cat video ever created. Feel free to share it. I Saw A Play - It's true. I did. The Deal With Cats - Truth has never been truthier. So there you go. The top six entries for 2012. What will next year bring? One way to find out before anyone else is to follow this page on Facebook. Sometimes you'll even get extra stuff you won't find on the site. It's worth a click. If you're unsatisfied, I'll give you your money back. Thanks for hanging with me this year. See you in 2013! Before your weekend begins, there's a brand-new entry in the Ticket Stub Project. I know, right? It's from twenty years ago, when I saw former Talking Head, David Byrne. AND!! I interviewed David Byrne on the same day! So it's a DB two-for-one! This is the only time this freak occurrence will happen on this site! It truly is a once in a lifetime experience. You are so welcome! Don't forget, there are more interviews HERE, and a wonderful cat video HERE. You are my best friend. Enjoy your weekend. Digging through an old box of my childhood toys, I found Fonzie dressed as Tarzan. Of course, he's wearing his leather jacket and boots. Let's not speak of this again. There's a new interview up with Mike D of Beastie Boys. He's funny, I'm flustered.
I've also added a new section: Vertical Videos. Hopefully there'll be more than just a cat video someday. And hopefully, you'll share the videos you like! You may have missed some new entries last week: There's been a lot of nice response to the Sarah McLachlan interview I posted on Monday. There are a lot more interviews here.
Yesterday featured an Indiana Jones story you were never meant to read! There's a new King of Radio today featuring songs you may not know, yet need to hear. Have you looked at The Vertical Files Classic: Welcome to Our Radio Station? Sit at work, and kill time. You're welcome! Welp, yesterday I actually updated the website. And so today it happens again.
Yesterday, I featured an interview with Sarah McLachlan, The media has been talking about it non-stop, so you want to get in on this hot trend now. Today, we discuss Indiana Jones and the Cave of Death, A movie that didn't and shouldn't have happened. Tomorrow, I'll throw some of my favorite songs at you, with another entry in King of Radio. It will break the internets in to tiny pieces. Don't miss it. It's been a while. Let's not discuss it.
The Ticket Stub Project is probably the best idea I've had on this website, and it totally drained me. I still like the idea, and will update it occasionally (hopefully), but man... it's kind of difficult coming up with different ways of saying "I don't remember much about this concert, but here's a review of it anyway". If you're new here, maybe start with the Home page. You might also enjoy checking out an old coloring book about radio I saved from a long time ago. And my two favorite pieces on the site: The Deal With Cats and my Titanic review. New for today is an interview with Sarah McLachlan from 1992. Tomorrow, it's a look at Indiana Jones that you've never seen before. Get excited. I was hard at work this weekend transferring audio interviews from cassette to digital. You reap the benefits from this, because you like interesting things!
You're welcome. First up: my very first ever radio interview, with Jim Glennie from the band James. It's almost exactly twenty years old, and an interesting glimpse into my past. Then: check out Toad the Wet Sprocket (also from nearly 20 years ago). They perform "Walk on the Ocean", and "Way Away". It's good stuff. You'll like it! See the whole list of my interviews here! You may have missed last week, when I also added three new Ticket Stub Project entries: Muse, Sting !), and The Replacements (again!). If you need internet entertainment, this is pretty much the only place you'll find it today! Don't forget to find me on Twitter! (and Facebook!) |
What's New?Check out that list over on the left. It's filled with essays that are honest, funny and written with you in mind. Please enjoy your time here, and come back soon! Were you going to buy something at Amazon? Use the search box below to find it!
