Tom Morwatts was my friend. He was a brilliant musician, songwriter and a member of the Mutants. Tom and I started off working together and later became friends. In subsequent years I lost track of Tom but never stooped thinking about him. Tom was tough as nails but like most tough guy's he had a heart of gold. Tom ,back in the day, enjoyed bombing around in his late sixties Plymouth Fury.
Sometimes I would ride with him. Mostly I talked and Tom would, occasionally, add... his insights. I'm not sure everyone understood how brilliant Tom was. At one point I sat in a studio and watched Tom and the rest of the band write "Molecular Weights" a witty song dripping with sarcasm. It was like witnessing a master class.
Genius is an over used word. In Tom's case it wasn't used enough.
Goodbye my friend. We won't see your like again.
